Sonos Playbase issue with Alexa.

1) Using a splitter for the TV that does not have an optical OUT port

2) Sonos playbase does not have an HDMI IN port

3)Alexa voice command (routine) works to turn on TV

4)Alexa does not allow me to turn on the Sonos Soundbar because it cannot turn on the Apple TV to turn on the Sonos soundbar

Any suggestions to get it to work with Alexa voice command? Thanks!

The Playbase should detect if it receives a signal, I’d say. Is does not need to be “turned on”, just “waken up”, which this automatic detection should take care of.

Set TV Autoplay to On. Settings/roomname and scroll down to the Home Theatre options.

But the playbase is attached to AppleTV, not the Samsung TV (it does not have optical audio out). My workaround is AppleTV HDMI out to a splitter, that separates the audio to optical (to the playbase) and HDMI video to the TV.

Since the Sonos isn’t designed to ‘turn off’, there wouldn’t be a command in Alexa to do that. It instead relies on signal activation through the optical port to come from low power mode to playing the signal, as stated by @106rallye

I suspect, in order to maintain your current setup, you need to work with both Apple and Amazon (Alexa) in order to have them create a command to turn on and off the Apple TV.
