I have two Sonos Connect Amp Gen 1 connected to a pair of KRK Rokit 5” and 8” speakers.  In both cases, there is LOTS of static coming from both speakers.  I paid $40 for two double shields RCA cables, and the static persists.  I’ve read a LOT of threads with people complaining that these Connect Amps produce static.  I’m 99% certain that the issue is with the Sonos Connect Amps, but thought I would ask regardless if anything can be done to eradicate the static.

The CONNECT:AMP Gen 1 is a pretty old, and low powered (when compared to the Sonos Amp) device, and we don’t know either the source of the music you’re playing, or the impedance/ power requirements of these speakers.

Can you share some of that?

I certainly don’t recall a lot of complaints regarding static with the old CONNECT:AMP gen 1s, in general.

Do an Internet search, there are numerous threads regarding Connect Amps and static.  These are KRK Rokit 5” and 8” speakers. They both have built-in amplifiers.

The KRK Rokit line of speakers are Powered. They are not designed to be used with any Sonos Amp. You need a Sonos Connect (discontinued) or Sonos Port. You would use the RCA cables connected to the Connect or Ports line-out to speakers line-in.

My mistake, it is a Sonos Connect, not “Amp”.  Like this one:

 


There’s not much Sonos can do unless the previous owner didn’t use the upgrade credit which you can if it is registered to you as owner. If you bought from Amazon you may be able to return it for exchange.

Play some music that has the static, submit a diagnostic and call support, they can see internal data we can't.

If nothing else trade it using the 30% upgrade deal you should qualify for.

 

I used my Connects for many years with no issues, but into an AVR not powered speakers.

I followed the link below regarding the 30% upgrade, and found no option to actually upgrade.

OK…I understand. I still suggest you log into your account on the Sonos website to see if there is an upgrade credit. Beyond that hopefully someone else will see this thread and offer some advice/assistance.
