Could someone tell me if I can use ROAM as front and/or rear speakers to create a 5.1 system?

No, the Roam cannot be used in either way to create a 5.1 setup.

No Sonos speakers are meant to be used as fronts in a surround set up. The only front set up for surround with Sonos is either the Amp or one of the soundbars.
