Please can Sonos deliver functionality to allow the same speakers to be configured differently for Music and TV playback.

I have era 300’s and a Beam.

I want to have a preset grouping for a stereo pair (era 300’s) for music

and

A preset grouping for Surround era 300’s + Beam for tv.

I thought I might be able to do this by creating to ‘rooms’.. Loung TV / Lounge Music…. but it will only allow the speakers to belong to one room grouping.

This can’t be achieved currently and would be a massive positive. When I play music with all three speakers (even when in ‘full’ mode - it doesn’t sound anywhere as near as good as the two era’s as a stereo pair).

Positive for whom? You need to remember this will be a lot of work for Sonos - having the system remember settings for two completely different ways to be used (for the surrounds to be commanded by the soundbar via a dedicated 5Ghz channel and in a stereo set up for them to do the work themselves via wifi) and remember the Trueplay settings for both set ups.

And this for the probably small (but vocal) group of customers that would want this, only for the stereo set up to be behind them. And in the end sell less speakers because if you really want this, you’d buy an extra set of speakers now.

You are entitled to your opinion of course, but I would not hold my breath. Then again, I have been surprised by Sonos before,

Note too that this has often been requested over the course of many years, has been passed on by forum moderators, and still has not materialised (yet?).

There are so many posts and topics on why this isn't likely to happen, it would be handy to have an official Sonos FAQ entry to link to.
