Playing TV through grouped speakers

I have a Beam 2 connected via HDMI(eARC) to a TV and a single Era 100. Both are on the same wireless network. If I group the speakers together, I only get TV audio out of the Beam. If I play music on the Sonos app, they both play flawlessly in sync.

I've tried associating them in the same room and as separate rooms. The app acts like it's playing on both speakers when I group them. 

Is this just not possible in this configuration?

Yes it’s possible with good network conditions, but there will always be a delay to the grouped speakers - a minimum of 75ms. If network conditions are not ideal, then simply increase the audio delay in the Sonos App to the grouped rooms. See link:
