I have old products but they still work and sound great so I really dont want to upgrade if I dont have to.  I have an old play 1 and Play 5 (from like 2015 or something).  I just cancelled xfinity and switched to a t mobile gateway.  It is connected to an eero mesh wifi system.  I connected my play 5 directly to the wifi router via an ethernet cable.  by holding down the mute and play button on each speaker it started playing music but the app cant connect to the system or find any products.  I have tried rebooting the modem, router, and speakers but still no luck.  Luckily I like the music that is playing but I have no way to control it since the app cant find the products.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Did you put the ISP router in bypass/bridge mode?

I put the modem in bridge mode (T mobile gateway) but not he wifi router.  I did this to avoid the double wifi network interference. I was able to add my play 1 using a temporary SONOS wifi network then move back to my usual network.  I do not have the S2 app on my phone, only the S1 app.  Each time I go to the S1 app to “add product” it prompts me to update the app and the only option is to download the S2 app which of course is not compatible with my old speakers.  Thanks for any thoughts you have

i do have the ability to move my wifi router into bridge mode and I can wire the play 5 directly into the router if that would help

That update to s2 thing has been mentioned, can you power down all your s2 capable gear and try the setup again.

There is more here on s1 setups, hopefully the search will find it if my suggestion fails.

Normally you want all but one router set in bridge mode, usually the last in the string will be the active one but there are other possibilities.
