How to configure a SSD music library on my home network
There is no difference in setup for an SSD, just follow the standard music library setup.
What type of SSD? Is it attached to a computer which means the computer would need to be on for Sonos to access it; or is it in an enclosure attached to your router (network)?
Thanks, in fact the question was more on the software aspect, not specifically the SSD type info... the storage device needs to be seen at the local network level, not the PCs which can be turner off.
10 years agora, I was using a NAS which was seen by Sonos app... w/ou any issue !
Today, with only USB storage (HDD or SSD) plugged to the home box router, the Sonos app doesn't find any of them for defining the personal music lib.... ! I tried several times and no document I rdid read, helped me here to détermine where is the problem. I need to add that the USB added devices are seen under Windows.... ???
Not sure what a ‘home box router’ is, but if your SSD is plugged into a router, and not a PC directly, there is no guaranty that it has NAS functionality built in to the router’s software…or if it has, it may need to be ‘turned on’ in the settings. You may want to refer to the router’s manual for more information.
I’d be tempted to add the SSD to my PC, then set up the Sonos share following the instructions in the FAQ as step one. Then, once that’s done properly, I’d move the SSD to the router, and check all the things. That may be a more tedious practice, but you’ve eliminated some of the variables, and can focus on other things.
And, you could always call Sonos Support to discuss it.
If you can’t create a network path to the USB port on the “Home Box Router” then Sonos will not be able to see the drive. Can you access the “Home Box Router” via IP Address although it sounds like it’s gear provided by your ISP that restricts your access. 🤔
