Hi @Dudinator

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

It is a Sub (Gen 2).

I hope this helps.

We discourage public posting of full serial numbers. The “1706” indicates that it was manufactured in June of 2017. I don’t recall the date between V2 and V3. My guess would be V2.

With Some AI help you can get a guide..

  • Gen 1: Released in 2012, the Join button has arrows.
  • Gen 2: Released in 2016, the Join button also has arrows.
  • Gen 3: The Join button has the infinity symbol (♾).
  • Cosmetic Differences: Gen 2 has a blacked-out trim and a smaller logo compared to Gen 1.
  • Internal Differences: Gen 3 and above have updated internals and are only compatible with the S2 app.
  • Dual Sub Setup: If you want to use two Subs with your Arc setup, at least one Sub must be Gen 3 or 4.
  • Gen 4 subs are matt finished rather than the gloss of previous generations.

To add another data point, sub Gen2 doesn’t support Apple Music lossless unless bonded with a HT product.
