Dialog cracking/distortion on Beam (Gen 2) at certain frequencies

Hi,

I'm experiencing an issue with my brand new Beam (Gen 2) where dialog audio occasionally cracks/distorts. It doesn't happen constantly, it seems to occur at certain frequencies or volume levels, but it happens frequently enough to be noticeable and distracting.

See the attached video for an example. Around the 7-second mark, when the person says "where even more adventures await us," you can clearly hear the word "more" cracking. This is not a recording artifact, it sounds the same (worse, I’d say) in person.

Setup:

  • TV: Samsung QLED 65Q74T
  • Speaker: Sonos Beam (Gen 2)
  • Connection: HDMI eARC

TV Sound Settings:

  • Output: Receiver (HDMI-eARC)
  • HDMI-eARC Mode: Auto
  • Digital Output Audio Format: Auto
  • Digital Output Audio Delay: 0
  • Dolby Atmos Compatibility: On

What I've already tried:

  • Digital Output Audio Format: switched from Auto to PCM (Pass-through is grayed out)
  • Dolby Atmos Compatibility: toggled On/Off
  • Digital Output Audio Delay: adjusted various values
  • Trueplay Tuning: toggled On/Off, redid the tuning process multiple times
  • EQ: Bass and Treble at 0; also tried Treble at -2 (suggested fix I found online, no improvement)
  • Speech Enhancement: toggled On/Off
  • Night Sound: toggled On/Off
  • Changed cables

None of these changes resolved the issue.

Any suggestions?

I can’t see your video. If you suspect a technical fault, you might want to call Sonos.
