Hey all

heres the go, I’ve got a Ray, Sonos 1 and play 3 that are all connected to the same network and running fine.

The issue I have is that the Ray is plugged via optical cable into the tv and when watching the TV if you want to play music elsewhere in the house on the play1 or 3 when you open the app and change the speaker, the tv playback disconnects.

Note, I am not grouping speakers. I am trying to play music on another speaker while the tv sound is playing.

Any suggestions on how to change speakers without disturbing others?

cheers

In the Sonos app, swipe up on the room bar at the bottom to reveal all of your Sonos rooms. Select the room you wish to play music in, then go back to the Home page and select the music you wish to play.

See System controls Section in the app guide.

See that’s what I thought as well

done that, once I start playing something, the tv stops and I have to change to the Ray to then select the TV input again for it to work

it works I suppose, just not as intended would be the best explanation.

If the room bar at the bottom of the screen is showing either the Play:1 or the Play:3 room as the output room selected, and the Ray is not grouped with that room, then there should be no impact on the Ray when you initiate music playback.

A screenshot may help where you believe you have selected the correct room and are just about to initiate music playback.

Sounds like the Ray is dropping TV audio because Sonos prioritizes the last active source. Don’t switch speakers just start music directly in the Play:1 or Play:3 room, leaving Ray locked on TV.
