Question

Bridging 2 (or more) Sonos Ports

I have a system that has two ports; each controls a different area. Currently, neither port has a hard (i.e., RCA) input as it plays only via Spotify.

Is there a way to bridge the two ports if I hook up an audio device (e.g., turntable or wireless audio receiver) to the RCA inputs of one port? I want to hook up the audio device but still have the signal play through both ports so it can be heard in both areas.

Thank you in advance for any insights and help.

In the controller, you would want to group them, starting with the one that is accepting the line in.

The Line-In (RCA input) on each PORT is simply a network resource that does not automatically play anywhere. You first need to select Line-In that can then be played in any Room (including the PORT with the physical RCA connection) or Group of Rooms. Line-Out on each PORT is simply another SONOS Room.

The line outs of both PORTS are already connected to a receiver that goes to an amplifier; they function perfectly well.

Will hooking up a device via one of the PORT’S RCA inputs allow the sound to play in both areas, despite not being physically hooked up to the second PORT? Or do I need to get a splitter that divides the R-L RCA cable so the other two can be connected to the second PORT?

Sonos is a network sound system, the various Sonos devices connect wirelessly. The Group option will do that for you.

In that case, I would connect the cassette player to the RCA in to the one PORT; then group that PORT with the second PORT; that will allow the signal going into the first PORT to carry over to both areas covered by the two PORTS?
