Beam 2 no longer plays music

I use "Alexa" and my Beam 2 repeats the instruction eg "playing BBC Radio 2" but then it is silent.  I have reconnected to my wifi, reloaded my music services and the sound works fine for the tv. What more do I need to do?

Will it play music if you instigate from the app?

No, and I have looked at the settings in Music and in the Sonos app. I have disconnected the beam reconnected and the same with the router!

Assuming the Beam has access to the internet, that’s very odd behaviour. Are you using a wired or WiFi connection? If WiFi, have you accidentally turned off the Beam’s WiFi connection? 
 

It may be worth checking with Sonos support to see if they can detect any issues.

Thanks yes it is on wifi. But also attached to a Sony TV and a Fire stick.  The tv sound is fine through the Beam.

Two different input methods. The Beam communicates with the TV through the HDMI-ARC connection, the BBC radio communicates through the Internet, be it WiFi or cable wired.

Can't help with the voice stuff but maybe a basic restart would help.

Power down all Sonos, reboot router and controller, power up the Sonos.

It’s still odd to me that you can’t get any music to stream, even when using the app to start the stream, and that only the hdmi input is functional. What did Sonos support suggest?

Thought I woud try the community first.  Next thing I will do is to contact support!
