Hi @Sparkles
Welcome to the Sonos Community!
Sorry to hear of the issue you had with your husband - though there is a silver lining to the cloud if he left you his Sonos system!
For Alexa to work properly with a Sonos system, it needs to be the only Sonos system to which a particular Alexa account is linked.
I think it likely that the best course of action is to transfer the ownership of your Sonos system to a new email address, then create an Amazon account with the same email (or move Sonos to an email that is already registered with Amazon).
- To do so, first remove Alexa from any Sonos speakers that have it added: Setting icon » Manage » Voice Assistants » Amazon Alexa » leach room] » Remove Alexa.
- With that done, please sign out of the Sonos app: User icon » App Preferences » Sign Out
- Next, transfer ownership to a new Sonos account: Settings icon » Manage » Transfer System Ownership.
- You may need to sign in to your new account in the Sonos app - if this is offered, please do so.
- Open the Alexa app on the same device that you have the Sonos app installed on. Sign out of the old account, then in with your new account.
- Add Alexa to the speakers you want it on: Settings icon » troom] » Add a Voice Assistant » Amazon Alexa.
You will not need a “premium” account for Alexa to work. You don’t even need a paid account.
You will, however, need to add any music service that you want to be able to use with Alexa to both the Alexa app and to the Sonos system, and they must be the same account for it to work.
I believe Sonos Voice Control won’t need any reconfiguration, but you may need to tell it which music service you prefer.
I hope this helps.
