Amazon Alexa doesn't connect to Ray

When trying to connect my new Ray Soundbar to the Amazon Alexa Service, Alexa doesn't find the Ray.

I set up the Ray using the Sonos App, activated the Sonos Skill in the Alexa App and tried to add a new speaker, but Alexa can't find it. I tried it by Android and iOS.

The Ray ist working fine with the Sonos App. Ii is connected to the router by LAN, the Echo Dot by WLAN.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Issue is resolved! I just had to disable the sonos app in alexa and re-enable it. Then it found my two rays. Weird how doing a discover did not work. thanks all

The Alexa Sonos skill is currently broken.  Nothing you can do except wait until Sonos and Amazon get their act together.

Mines working fine.  What issue are you having?

Can you open the Sonos App and select the cog wheel in the top right corner of your screen.  Then select Manage>Voice Assistants>Amazon Alexa  Is your Ray listed?  If not please select ‘Add to another product’ and follow the prompts.

The Ray is NOT listed in the Voice Assistants. I only see my Arc and One SL. I have two Rays and they dont have Alexa built in. Does this still work with the Rays?

Probably depends on if you have your account set up at www.sonos.com properly. Is your address listed correctly, in a location that Amazon allows Sonos to operate the voice assistant?

Hmm. That may be invalid, if it’s showing up for your Arc and One SL.

Have you tried a reboot of your Ray, by unplugging it from the wall for two minutes?

I’d be tempted to submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. But don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, they get sensitive about GDPR.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

One more thing. I’d be equally tempted to check that your Ray’s firmware is up to date. No guaranty, though, which is why I suggested the diagnostic above.

My two rays are in the same house hold as my arc and sl one. Same location, same network, same account. My Rays are fully updated and all unplugging from the wall for over 2 minutes. No luck.

I just want to make sure.. Sonos/Amazon does support non-alexa voice sonos right? Not only the voice-enable sonos?

I will go ahead and open a ticket to Sonos.
