The Alexa voice volume is way louder than the music level. Anyone aware of a fix. I’ve read other threads without a working solution and mention of Sonos looking at a fix 7 years ago!

Hi @RobbinsBobbind

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

At present, all Voice Assistants available on Sonos speakers have their voice volumes linked to the speaker volume - they cannot be altered separately from the speaker’s volume setting.

Thank you - I shall mark this thread as a feature request to have a separate volume control on a speaker for an installed Voice Assistant, and it will be seen by the relevant teams for consideration. Keep the ideas coming!

As this has been requested before, and as it does sound like you interpret that as us “looking at a fix”, please be aware that this has only ever been a feature request - to my knowledge, we have never stated that we will implement such a feature.

I hope this helps.

Bumping this thread as this is a much needed fix.  I have the same issue as OP except the music volume is way louder than Alexa, she sounds like a whisper compared to my music volume.

This morning, after updating my Ultra and the app, I feel like the sound on Alexa is louder than before

Hi Cory,

There are many separate threads about this same problem going back 8+ years! It’s a BIG issue. I just dropped $3700 to fill my house with Sonos and get rid of my Alexas but we’re considering taking all the room speakers back because they are unusable. Alexa is deafeningly loud on our Era 100, and inaudible on our Arc Ultra with sub and surrounds. I can’t speak to Alexa without waking everyone in the house up or scaring the hell out of people. It’s embarrassing when guests come over and we have this high-end audio system and it can’t figure this out.

Please stop feeding us lip service that it will be looked into, and set transparent expectations on whether or not this is happening because I need to make some serious decisions as to whether to keep all this or not. Appreciate it, thanks.

Hi @AcapulcoFam

I appreciate your points, but I am limited to what I can do. As I stated in my first reply, my saying that we have accepted a feature request does not mean that it will be implemented, and I have no way of ascertaining whether a request will be implemented, and if I did, I would not be permitted to share as much here.

I highly recommend that you contact our technical support team to report this - personally, I would consider the behaviour that you report undesirable and unintended, which means - in my opinion - it is not a feature request, but a bug report, and as such, extant support cases will be needed for it to be addressed.

I hope this helps.

Hi Corry,

That helps quite a bit actually. I hadn’t considered that it was technically a bug and reportable to tech support. I’ll try that route. Wish me luck!

Sonos Community, please do the same so that we can finally get this resolved.

Thank you.

In my experience the Alexa response level varies, but I have not noted any correlation. Possibilities could be your speaking volume, distance from the speaker, or the speaker’s Volume setting at a specific time, perhaps at a reboot. It may also depend on which device you are speaking to. There may be a difference when speaking to a single speaker, a pair, a soundbar, or member of a Group.
