I am in need of help setting up an undercover patio speakers and tv. My home is being built right now and now is the time to run the wires.

If I am understand correctly, I can order an AMP and Outdoor Speaker set. Wire the speakers to the AMP and store the AMP inside while the speakers are attached to the outside of my home. Then I want to connect a BEAM and hardwire it to the TV and also connect it wirelessly to the AMP.

Will this work as I described and work seamlessly with the TV audio?

Do I need to order specific outdoor speakers? I was sold a pair of 300 but I don’t believe these to be correct now. I am planning to use a Sylvox Outdoor TV.

Will the BEAM be ok undercover outside? No rain will be able to get to it but there could be dust as the home is being built on 7 acres.

Thanks for any help and guidance.  I have included an image as to how I think it works.   Sorry I advance as this is all new to me.

Any specific products you recommend I would appreciate links to order directly from you.

Consider hiring a pro for this project.

Maybe the BEAM will be OK, but it is not environmentally hardened. You should bring it inside during cold winters. BEAM communicates with the surround AMP over a direct 5GHz connection and the 5GHz may not penetrate the walls to an AMP in the kitchen.

No reason to use an “outdoor tv”. Myself and many I know just buy regular household TV’s for our patios. Never an issue. Sony is what I always buy.

Can I hardwired the beam to the amp?

Wire them both to the network.

Everyone assumes you want to use the outdoor speakers as surrounds.

  • As has been said the Beam communicates with the Amp over 5Ghz for surrounds which may not penetrate the wall. So wiring both to the network is probably the best solution.
  • However, you can place the Amp outside in a weather proof enclosure as shown in this link. That will (should) allow the Beam to communicate with Amp over 5Ghz negating having to wire anything back to your router/network.

Now…but this is probably not your intention….

  1. If you were planning on using the speakers wired to the Amp as a separate room and then sending TV audio to them via grouping with the Beam there will be a 75ms delay to the wired speakers. That will cause an echo effect.
  2. On the other hand there is no delay when grouping for music.
