Having the exact same issues ... I believe the issue started a couple of days ago (experienced it first time yesterday, but wasn't a problem a week ago).
My wife can easily use Spotify Connect using her Spotify account/app. But my app (mobile and desktop) doesn't work anymore.
Same issue here. Started about 1 week ago for me and I haven’t been able to play with Spotify Connect since. Only thing that works is AirPlay or playing direct with the Sonos app.
Update on my end. My Spotify Connect works as usual, at work (connecting to the Sonos setup) 🤨 But still not working at home.
Seems to be working now for me. Suddenly started a couple hours ago after being broken for a week.
Same issue — please advise
Hello @Kim Lindholm and everyone else,
I am sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with Spotify Connect and your Sonos.
We have a Support article for our customers who use Asus RT and AX Series in regards the compatibility, worth a shot if you haven’t tried that already.
But for everyone who’s still having issues with Spotify Connect and do not have an ASUS RT/AX series router, complete the basic troubleshooting steps below:
- Make sure everything is up to date. Sonos App and Spotify App.
- Force-close the Spotify App and re-open.
- Reboot all network devices to refresh the connections. Start with Router → Sonos → Controller (Smartphone/tablet).
If you are still experiencing issues, I would recommend to reach out to our Support team for some live troubleshooting.
They have tools at their disposal to provide you with information and advice, specific to your system and what it reports.
I hope this helps.
I do have the very same problem. I tried everything already (restart, uninstall the app, logoff, logon, revoke permission, unplug/replug, ...) and nothing….
- It works fine with the Spotify account of my girlfriend. Only my account is affected
- Other Spotify connect devices works fine as well (with either my account or my girlfriend’s)
- Joining jams works fine as well
It stopped working out of the blue, about last week. Due to the symptoms, I am certain that something is fishy with the integration of Spotify/Sonos rather than with my network.
I’m also still having the very same issue, using Spotify Connect with my home Sonos system.
Still, my Spotify Connect works fine on other Sonos systems. And at home, I can easily use Spotify connect on other systems (like Google Chromecast) - and even Tidal “Connect” to my home Sonos system works like a charm.
So agree. I have a feeling that my Sonos system is “blocking” my specific Spotify Connect connection. Considering a factory reset of the entire system - but pretty annoying having 9+ speakers/sub.
I have exactly the same issue. I am unable to use Spotify connect with my Sonos speakers using my Spotify account. I have tried this from multiple devices (2 phones and PC) and all will not connect. But my Spotify connect works fine on other non-Sonos speakers. And other people with different Spotify accounts are able to connect to my Sonos fine. I have removed the Spotify service and rebooted the system and router, but it has not helped.
I’m curious as to what the Sonos Support team said, as @Sotiris C. suggested?

I used the web chat and sent diagnostics as requested. They tried getting me to reauthorize Spotify and then remove and re-add again but nothing worked. So they said they are unable to diagnose the issue and suggested I phone tomorrow (lines are closed in my country).
I have this exact same issue as well - Spotify connect to other speakers works, to other Sonos systems not at home works. My wife is able to Spotify connect to our Sonos, and I can join her Jam then as well. It seems to be specifically my phone/account Spotify Connecting to my Sonos. Started some weeks ago as well. Already removed my Spotify account from Sonos etc. To try and fix it but nothing worked.
This can't be a coincidence anymore and needs some proper support from Sonos...
Hi, i have the exactly same problem. Me and my wife have a spotify duo account. Only she can connect to the sonos speaker through spotify connect. For me i just see the sonos speaker but cant connect to them. No matter from which device i try (Android, iphone, win Laptop) if i try with the same device and log in throug my wifes account it worked. For me it seems there is something wrong with the Integration. Other Speakers like Google Nest works fine.

Same situation, same problem.
Works fine for my wife but not me.
Any official news ? The problem is still very real to me
I’ve been having the same issue for a while. I went into the Sonos app and manually added Spotify as a music service. Did the authentication and it worked straight away.
I was able to have it resolved as well. I tried @syllabub’s suggestion and added Spotify as a music service, but I had the very same symptom: everything is browsable, but playback cannot start.
So, I did the following:
- Remove my Spotify account as a music service in the Sonos app
- Remove the Sonos app from the web portal (Manage Apps - Spotify)
- “Sign out everywhere” from the Sonos portal (Spotify)
- Logged back in in the Spotify app in my tablet - !! without starting any playback !!
- Added my Spotify account back as a music service in the Sonos app
And now it works…. I tried variants of this sequence the past days with no luck. Not sure I was hitting a transient error, or if initiating the federation between Sonos and Spotify works better when initiated from the Spotify app, or a mix of everything, …
Good luck :)
@FuN_KeY thank you so much! I’ve been having this trouble for months and your tips worked exactly in that order. Dancing around the kitchen to the Spice Girls now to celebrate 🥳

Since a couple of days same problem. My wife can play spotify to sonos, i cannot. No solution. Tried all the tips.
I am not able deleting spotify from the Sonos app. I am getting an error, “could not be removed”, so i am stuck.
i see all my sonos rooms, worth a 1000€, but cannot use them to play spotify.
what a crap.
sick of it!
I’m curious, what did Sonos Support say, when you called them?
Interesting. That certainly suggests an issue on the servers that Spotify uses to feed Sonos. But why it works on one phone, and not the other doesn’t make sense to me, unless the two phones are connected to different subnets, which would be a Sonos issue. And the fact that you can’t remove Spotify from your Sonos system using your phone also points to that, but I don’t have access to your diagnostic, so I’m guessing. At the least, I’d power cycle your phone, the router, and your Sonos speakers, to see if that makes any difference. And if you do have a mesh network, temporarily turn off any ‘mesh’ nodes, just as a test. Make sure your wife’s phone and yours are both connected to the ‘main node/ router’ for testing. Once you’ve confirmed one way or the other, you can reconnect the mesh nodes.
It´s a Spotify account bound issue: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Other-Podcasts-Partners-etc/Spotify-Connect-has-stopped-working-on-my-Sonos-products-Port/td-p/6580057/page/2
I have been with their support all evening and creating a new account migrating most of my stuff is the only solution.. Really weird issue..!
Hello Bruce, thanks for your reply and Mhilv as well
.
My wife’s iPhone/iPAD with the other, second, other Duo Account Spotify can play over all the different SONOS speakers/rooms we have through Spotify connect. My devices iPhone/iPAD suddenly stopped working over the weekend and stopped playing over Spotify connect. The rooms are visible though. When selecting it starts connecting for a second or 4, no connection and it jumps back to the device it was pplaying on before. We are both on the same Mesh ASUS WIFI network, same subnet etc. That should not be the issue here. Off course tried all the things as mentioned except turning off my Mesh network, as that will ruin my home network and connectivity of other (security) devices. I donot think that is the issue.
One strange thing happened during the weekend though. I got an email from spotify that due to suspicious activities my account has been suspended and i needed to change my password. There were two links in the email. However, as there was no salution in the email, i considered this mail as spam and deleted the email without clicking any link. So i did change the password of Spotify going to spotify website directly.
Could that password change be the reason that i cannot delete the spotify connection in the Sonos App? I will give it a try to change the password back to the earlier password.
I will look into the Spotify account bound issue link of Mhilv to see if that is also the case here.
PS Luckily, playing to Sonos devices/rooms through Airplay or Bluetooth and then selecting Sonos Room works
Hello Pierrke, considering the info you just gave i checked my mail and i had been emailed from spotify like 10 times the 21 and 22nd of December 2024. The email contained info about confirming my account and as you described two links. I did also classify this as spam and didn't click any of the links. After that i have had a problem with Spotify connect on the Sonos.. Could not be a coincidence.
