Hello, we are new to buying Sonos and we are struggling with how many speakers, placement, and which speakers can or should I choose(Arc 100? Arc 300?. The room is a great room with very high vaulted ceilings(10 feet to 22) and is 38’ by 22’ approximately 832 sq feet. We will be placing a TV in the middle of the 22’ wall and are considering using a Arc Ultra sound bar under the TV. We only have sidewalls in the space and then back wall, which is 38 feet away from where the TV will be. In the perfect world, I would love to only have two speakers on the back wall(38 feet from the TV), as my wife really doesn’t want anything mounted on the wall or ceiling if possible. My question is, given this room configuration, if we purchase the ultra soundbar and did ARC 100 or 300, would these sound approprirately? Is the space too large just for a sound bar and 2 speakers? Ive read that 2-3 are needed for a size 1000 sq feet or more. Just so you know, we are not especially picky about having perfect sound quality as most of the time we’ll be watching TV or listening when people are over for background music. Love to hear your thoughts? Would ARC Ultra soundbar and 2 ARC 300’s be ok for this space?
What Sonos speakers should I be looking at
Sonos has a 30 day home trial period in many regions. Buy the Ultra and 300’s. Set up the Ultra first and listen for a few days before adding the 300’s to compare the results for video and for music. If it’s not suitable, return the unwanted items.
That is big, consider two Sonos Amps, front and rear connected to some decent tower speakers up front and some very capable (not tiny) bookshelves, on stands in the rear.
After you hear it consider the Sonos Sub option (my preference) or subs matching your front towers if it needs more low end punch.
I'd go with the biggest towers the spouse can stand (my poor dear put up with Klispch LA Scallas for many years) and let her pick the color/wood to fit her room plan. In the back I'd lean to 8 inch or bigger woofers, that space will eat up sound from smaller drivers. My Klispch addiction says Heressy if you can fit them in. The newer Klispch designs are also excellent and more compact.
I'll recommend crutchfield.com as a good place to research speakers. If possible a live audition is best but the price will likely be a bit higher in a quality audio store.
