Assume I am buying a Pro-Ject T1 Phono SB Turntable and that I don't have any third party speakers, just a Sonos system with 8 speakers that include the soundbar and combination of original Sonos and Play One speakers and and Sonos sub. Should I get the amp for the turntable and system or will a PLay Five be just as effective?

You could get a Five, Port, or Amp. The benefit of the Five is you would have an additional speaker. And Sonos’ best sounding speaker for music is definitely the Five IMO.
