My play:1 fell and now has a lot of static.

  1. any suggestions for DIY repair?
  2. my system has a playbar, sub-gen2 and another play:1 for surrounds. What can I purchase to replace the poorly performing play:1?

Find another used Play:1.

If you want to replace both PLAY:1s, the current equivalent (and better, I’m told) is the Sonos Era 100. However, if you’re after Atmos, and have a Sonos Arc, the Sonos Era 300s are best.

@twhiting,
Just to quickly mention (so there’s perhaps no misunderstanding here) if the soundbar in use here is the old Sonos Playbar, as indicated, then a pair of Era 100s/300s are not compatible with that Playbar. See the footnotes in this link…

The cheapest option is to pick up a used/refurbished Play:1.

Refurbished (from the Sonos store) One SLs might also be an option.
