Have existing in ceiling speakers in two different rooms (2 speakers in each room).  The speaker wires terminate in a  media cabinet.  I bought a Sonos amp to drive the speakers and can now use the Sonos app to listen to music on these speakers.  I also have a turntable in the living room that I want to listen to on these speakers.  I bought a Sonos port and connected the turntable to it via rca jacks, line in.  I tried to Group the port and amp but I can’t get the turntable sound from any of the speakers.  Am I close to a solution?

I think you’re close. Does the turntable have a switch somewhere on it that allows the output to be ‘phono’ (super quiet) or ‘line’ (line level, much louder)? If so, you need to set that switch to ‘line’. If not, you need to purchase a preamp to fit between the turntable and the Sonos.

Thanks for the reply.  I do have the turntable set to “line in” and the turntable has a built in pre-amp, supposedly.

Im not sure I have the port and amp grouped together correctly.

Go to the AMP Room and select PORT’s Line-In as the input to play. Group is used to play the same music in multiple Rooms. In this case nothing is connected to PORT’s Line-Out and, while not wrong, Group doesn’t accomplish anything in this setup.

Make sure that your turntable has a built-in preamplifier or the turntable output is connected to an external phono preamplifier.

Figured it out.  Thanks for the help
