I have a Audio Technica LP120, with a prebuilt phono preamp. The output is RCA, but I am hoping that an RCA to Optical output would do the trick, something like this: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00ATNWBZU/?coliid=I1ZRBWDSO4G3YC&colid=SAP98B5UJ6WI&psc=0
Anyone have any success with this, or does this, in theory, make sense?

Unfortunately you cannot connect a turntable to a Beam as it has no line-in nor an optical input. You could purchase a Connect and run the RCA from your Pre-Amped turntable into it. Then you would group the Connect as a room to the Beam. Follow the link to view the Connect:
Just to clarify the optical that is associated with the Beam is an optical adapter that you place on one end of the included HDMI cable. However, the optical plugs into the optical port of your TV and the Beam accepts the remaining HDMI.
