Hi,

Appologies in advanced if this has been asked before.

I have a old Panasonic 50” Plasma TH-50U30A which I am pretty certain does not do Dolby Passthrough from its Optical or HDMI ports.

I have a spare Beam or Playbar (together with a Sub and two ones) which I can connect to this TV but in either case will only get Stereo PCM :-(

Is anyone able to suggest a good splitter which I could use to connect:

  • Apple TV → Splitter → Beam ARC Port (For Audio) and TV ARC or HDMI Port (For Audio)
    or
  • Apple TV → Splitter → PlayBar Optical Port (For Audio) and TV ARC or HDMI Port (For Video)

Preference would be for the latter (Playbar)

There are umpteen HDMI audio extractors on Amazon which output optical. Just pick one that fits your budget and choice of vendor/ratings.

Using the Beam’s optical/HDMI adapter you could send DD5.1 to it. Or as noted connect directly to a Playbar.
