I would love to get your suggestions for speaker choices. I am focusing on two spaces, both rectangular without any interior walls:

  1. an open-concept space (kitchen/dining/living), 14ft x 25ft with 10ft ceilings [4.3m x 7.6m x 3m]

  2. a home office, 14ft x 14ft with 9ft ceilings [4.3m x 4.3m x 2.7m]

I listen to a lot of music (mostly EDM, downtempo, R&B, lo-fi) and a fair amount of podcasts. Based on what I've read so far, I might want some combination of Era 100, Era 300 and/or Five for the two spaces.

For the larger space (350sqft / 32sqm), I could place one speaker at either end of the space, both facing toward the center. Or I could place one speaker closer to the center along a wall. What would you think of:

  • 2x Era 100, with or without mini Sub
  • 2x Era 300
  • 1x Five
  • 2x Five

For the smaller space (200sqft / 18sqm), would 1x Era 100 along a wall be sufficient to fill the room with sound and not feel that it is just coming from one direction? Would 2x Era 100 be recommended? What about 1x Era 300?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice.

Do you sit and listen or are you always up and about?

I rarely (if ever) sit and just focus on the music .. but now that you ask the question I wonder if maybe I should :)

I usually listen while doing something else, sometimes that is sitting at my desk using the computer or sitting on the couch using the ipad; sometimes that is cooking in the kitchen or sketching ideas on oversize post-its on the office wall. But in all cases I want to feel immersed in the music. My current bluetooth speaker is not cutting it.

A pair of 100’s does a nice job on my desk.

A pair of FIVE’s in the Livingroom area and a pair of 100’s in the Kitchen area would give uniform coverage.

You can start with a single pair of 100’s and FIVE’s. Plan on permanently using the 100’s in the office, but try them temporarily in the kitchen. SUB rather than a MINI would be fun if you need more bass in the Livingroom area. If practical the FIVE’s should face the couch,

thanks so much buzz!!
