So I’m looking at getting a Playbar and eventually adding a sub. I have seen a couple of Playbar’s second hand at a tempting price.
My question is, in the history of the Playbar have there been any significant hardware changes that should put me off going down the second hand route?

None. There is only one PLAYBAR. All of the updates have been with software.
So far, only the PLAY:5 has two generations.
