I am hoping I can run 2 sets of speakers for 2 separate rooms off of one Sonos amp.

any suggestions or do I need to buy another amp?

Yes, one Amp can power two pairs of 8-ohm nominal passive speakers wired in parallel. But keep in mind that each Amp acts as one zone, meaning all speakers wired to a single Amp will play the same content at the same volume. If you want each room to be its own separate zone, you need two Amps.
