You don’t have to use the Sonos Architectural speakers. You can use the VP64R with the Sonos Amp. But you do need two Amps for a home theater setup - one to power the two front speakers and one to power the two surround speakers.

I think you’d not have the ability to run TruePlay with the non-Sonos speakers.
