Hello !

I want to buy Sonos products for my new home that haven’t started yet to be built. I try to anticipate.

Please check the image of my plan aht the bottom.

For the Home Cinema i will have an “Arc ultra”. I can’t put in ceiling or in wall speakers for the surround, so i’ll have to go for ERA 100/300, so i don’t need to choose right now. And i might never put surrounds. I will go for the SUB MINI.

For the dining table area, it will be with a MOVE 2 that i can also carry in the bathroom and outside. Dining table area is not a place where we will listen to music a lot . For the rare occasion of party, i guess the arc ultra + move 2 + in ceiling speakers of the kitchen, it will do the job.

And i dont want to add a Sonos amp to have this area by itself. Because i will only want to play music in the kitchen for most of the time.

My question is for the kitchen :

The wall at the bottom is around 4,5meters (14,7 foots) and on the right is a big bay window  of 4 meters and total is 5,5 meters (18 foots)

To cover this area, i dont know if i should go for the 2 in ceiling speakers of 6” or 2 in ceiling speakers of 8”

Any advice, and where i should put them, will be very welcome !

And if you have an overall point of view for my project, do not hesitate to share.

Thanks a lot

I'll try to get back for another look but a first impression is that is a lot of space, with the open wall, to fill with a mini-sub.

For the kitchen, have you considered speakers placed on top of the cabinets?

I have used Play 5s in the past, then One SLs and currently Era-300s up there. The Play 5s and Erra-300s do a wonderful job, my room is similar to yours and the Ones were a bit weak. I am not fan of cutting holes unless there is no other choice, very inflexible if you decide you picked the wrong spots.

So look at the Five (Play 5 replacement) and Era-300 options, either single or two, maybe as a stereo Pair.

Thanks for the reply.

In the kitchen on the left side the cabinets go all the way up to the ceiling … no space for the speakers.
At the bottom, i wont be allow to put speakers on the counter as decided by the home leader aka wife 😅. No autorization either to put Era 100/300 at corner top.

all i can do is in ceiling speakers … except for the arc ultra and sub and move 2 for the moving speaker.
i might go for the Sub 4 as you say my room will need this.

my ceiling is at 2m70 = 8,86 foots.
any advice for the in ceiling 6 or 8 ?

regards

I can't help much on ceiling speakers, they have been discussed here in the past, size, placement and wiring.

Size, you can always turn down the volume on a large speaker, you can only turn a small one up a limited amount before it sounds bad.

Wiring  bring individual wire pairs back to the Amp location. Saving a few dollars on wire is a false economy when you decide your room would sound better with a different wiring arrangement.
