I have a 16X30 Kitchen and wondering what the best set up is for music. My tastes go to Country, Funk, Brass Bands and softer rock.
Do I want a pair of 5’s or 1’s with a sub?

Depends on available floor space, and where you would place/mount the speakers. I’m assuming you’re not raising the Sub off the floor, which means it will need somewhere to sit close to a power source.
In all honesty, I use a pair of Sonos Ones in my kitchen, with at least Brass Bands and soft-ish rock. They actually are sitting on top of my cabinets, where there happens to be power outlets, and supply a great sound, even without a Sub. But then I don’t do critical listening in my kitchen, just cooking. I’ve got a pair of Fives in my living room for that purpose. And my Sub is connected to the Arc for movie watching.
