Roam on a boat

Thinking of getting a Roam for a boat.  Does anyone use a portable wifi speaker on a boat.

The wifi connection would be via a MiFi dongle as wifi in the Marinas is pretty rubbish.

Any experience ?

Hi @Colliewobble, welcome to the Sonos Community!

While mobile network based routers can work, they can also be very inconsistent, and for that reason are unsupported - we’ll be happy to provide guidance and assistance, but at the end of the day it may just not work.

Another option would to use the Bluetooth functionality on the Roam - that would allow you to stream music stored on a phone or laptop without relying on a network connection. You could also connect to the Roam via Bluetooth and play from any streaming apps on your phone/laptop, however this would still rely on that device having a good wireless connection.

I haven’t used a Move on a connection like this myself however, so maybe some other members of the community will have some first hand experience to share :)

Not in a Marina, but once... gently down a stream.
