I”m creating a viewing area in my basement thats not a dedicated room. I’m planning on using an ARC and sub. For the rear speakers i’m trying to decide between in-ceiling sonos speakers vs Sonos One’s on stands behind the couch. Asthetics aside which will provide better sound?

Considerations:
Surround generally works best if the speakers are near ear level -- however -- if the speakers are too close to the seating and the listener is not exactly centered between the rear speakers, one speaker will dominate. Surround speakers sitting on end tables immediately next to the seating area are not a great idea. If this is your situation, then ceiling would be a better idea.
A consideration for ceiling speakers is that there will be the possibility of some sound bleed through the floor above.
