For years there has been only problems with my sonos system. I’m so close to chucking it all out the window. The last hour: Playbar works, unable to add livingroom speakers, try ten times, playbar disappears from system, app goes completely blank, livingroom re-appears, unable to pause, playbar reappears in app but without sound, and on and on and on and on ad infinitum et absurdum. Where can I send it all for incineration?!
You can send it directly to me, I will take care of it.
Alternately, you could fix any potential network issues that you’re experiencing by powering off / unplugging all Sonos devices from power, then rebooting your router. Wait two minutes for the router to come up, then power back on all Sonos devices. Wait another two minutes for them to boot up and reconnect, then apply any outstanding updates there may be (either S1 or S2, you don’t specify)
Or, you could call Sonos Support to discuss it.
When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
Here’s another idea that includes deleting and re-installing the app...
- Unplug your Sonos
- Reboot your router and let it come back
- Delete the Sonos app
- Power Cycle your device and connect to Wi-Fi
- Plug in your Sonos 1 x 1.
- Wait 10 minutes
- Reinstall the Sonos app
- Select Join existing system
- Accept all prompts
- Sign-in with your credentials
As the others implied above, there is 4 main possibilities:
- Something got messed up in the connection between your network and the speakers and power-cycling should fix it.
- There is something wrong with your network that a reboot can’t fix.
- There is something wrong with one of your speakers that a reboot can’t fix.
- There is something wrong with the app and reinstalling is your best option.
If the suggestions from the other posters above don’t fix the issues, then it would seem you need to get a new/better router, replace the playbar with a newer sonos sound bar, or … as you seem inclined, dtich Sonos altogether.
My hunch is that if even a NEW sonos soundbar doesn’t work in your place, then no other wireless speaker will either, and there’s something wrong with your network, or your just cursed with some kind of voodoo.
As wireless speakers go, you pretty much aren’t going to get any better than Sonos, so good luck with a different option.
