I'd like to buy a used SUB from someone on Craigslist, but I'm not sure how to check and make sure it's actually working.

Any ideas other than a visual inspection? Is there any test mode where I can hold down the power button or something like that?

I suspect it's fine but wanna make sure I'm not getting a borked unit and that's the reason he's selling.

There's no test that I'm aware of that would prove it's working, without connecting it to another Sonos speaker. Perhaps the person who is selling it could demonstrate that it's working on his system? If he can't, I'd agree with your suspicions, and not pay him until you can prove it's working.

I'm guessing for a Play:1, as long as there is wifi that can used, should be able to test with via your iPhone?
