So I’ve recently bought a new TV and am finding the speakers pretty rubbish. I was looking at getting a Sonos product however am now torn between getting just the Arc or a Beam and adding two Ones to go along with it. Does Dolby Atmos really make that much of a difference that it can outshine two surround speakers?

It depends on how much Dolby Atmos content you plan on watching/listening to. If your TV is equipped with HDMI eARC, and you plan on watching a lot of movies on Blu-ray or UHD and listen to Dolby Atmos music, get the Arc. Then save some money and add the Sub and One SLs as surround speakers later.

But if you don’t care about Dolby Atmos audio, your TV is only equipped with HDMI ARC, and you are content with being limited to Dolby Digital 5.1, get the Beam and Ones SLs as surrounds. And if possible, add a Sub too.

IMO, Dolby Atmos is worth the extra cost, and it sounds fantastic on the Arc. And the film and music industries are only going to use Atmos audio more and more in the coming years.
