Large living room (20X23), 12 foot ceilings.

Seeking whether to split up 2 Sonos 1 across room with Sub Gen 3 in same plane

OR

2 Sonos 5 across room in stereo mode.

For hosting parties, music, and potentially setting up to a mounted TV later.

Listen to alternative, higher pitch tunes, along with classic rock.  Will listen and low AND high volumes as well.

Thank you!

If you are primarily listening to rock music, I would go with the two Fives or Play:5s. But if you plan on using your Sonos speakers with a TV in the future, the pair of Ones or Play:1s with a Sub might be the better option since you will need to add a Sonos soundbar like an Arc or Beam to connect it to your TV. Then you could add the Sub and the pair of Ones as surrounds to the Arc or Beam for a great home theater setup.

If you connect an Apple TV to your TV and play your TV through that vs. a cable box you can use your play:5s via Air Play 2. I have this setup with 2 Play 1, 2 Ones and a Sub. TV Sound great and the music is amazing. Good luck.
