Hello

I’ve been using zone with four Era 100 in my sun room since last fall. No issue to report, it’s perfect to play ambiance music in a large area. But since the last app update, my zone disappear and all 4 speakers become separate.

Am I the only one ?  Is it a known issue ?

I’m using Alexa and

I was able to recreate the zone (I’ve done it twice )  but separation happen without reason after random time (could be a day or two)

Generate a diagnostics report with ten minutes of the next occurrence and speak to Sonos support. The report may indicate why the zone is separating.

Can you re-create them as a Zone, or is Zones not working?

Are you using the right term, Zone and not Group? Very different answers depending on which it is.

Support can sort that out.

Yes, it’s about zone not grouping, I now realise it could have been a slow network issue. I’ve seen the problem happening live and waiting a few minutes solve the issue.

It could be link with the new apps needing some fine tuning on the network side( the issue was not happening before the update). I have 22 Sonos speakers, I will probably isolate my IoT devices (not Sonos) on a 2.4Ghz network to avoid conflict and help synch between Sonos devices

Some folks see issues in well working systems after an update/reboot cycle, usually a network refresh will get things working again. Powering down that many Sonos, rebooting the router and powering them back up is a pain in the neck.

In my case, which "shouldn't" impact users with other DHCP servers, I ended up setting reserved DHCP IP addressses for all Sonos, then doing the network refresh to lock them in.

Hi!

Were you able to fix it? I’m having the same issue, with 8 era 100 speakers set in 1 zone. The zone keeps separating every few hours. I’m able to put them in zone and play them again, but again separates after few hours.

please let me know if you were able to find a fix!

thanks

Your best chance of finding the problem is with Sonos Support’s help. Try submitting a diagnostic (Submit Diagnostics) within 10 minutes of getting the zone separating. Then call Sonos Support (Sonos Support) to discuss it. They may be able to see what the problem is and recommend a fix. Don’t post the diagnostic number here.

From reading this, Zones should not be breaking like Groups can, a good support question.

After many change and struggle, the issue is my network! Like everybody is saying on the Facebook Sonos Users Group , “it,s always the network”

Look at this troubleshooting guide The Ultimate Sonos Troubleshooter , it made me fix some issue and it’s getting better now.  (in brief, I have an extra Deco router , I was under the impression more is better, it’s not the case if your speaker jump from one router to the other

I’m still loosing my zone if one of the speakers is unreachable ,  Sonos should keep zone together even if one speakers is unreachable for a small period of time.

Using SonoStats in the Apple app store to see my topology made me improve my network, it’s a work in progress but it’s more stable now

Still, the Zone should not break from  a network issue. Zones are designed to stay intact even through a power cycle.
