WPA3 is not working on Sonos Five

Hi everybody,

I’m actually testing a Sonos Five speaker with my Wi-Fi company infrastructure (Cisco).

Our SSID is configured with a static WPA3 psk key and it seems that this kind of encryption is not accepted during the pairing of the speaker between the Phone (Sonos app) and the speaker.

The phone is unable to connect the speaker (the devices are on the same WLAN).

If I change the security to WPA2 it works correctly.

I’ve got also a Sonos One speaker that works perfectly with the same WLAN using WPA3.

Do you have any issues with Sonos Five and WPA3?

Thanks

Hi @fcoppotelli

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Please see our Sonos System Requirements page - you’ll see that WPA3 is not currently supported (by omission - it is not mentioned).

I would put the fact that the Sonos One did work down to luck, basically - it probably has a different radio chipset than Five.

I hope this helps.

Hi @fcoppotelli

Seems I was wrong - thanks @Mr. T!

I recommend trying again with the Five on WPA3.

Hi @fcoppotelli

Given the issues you had, could you perhaps share the model numbers of the Cisco gear and submit a support diagnostic after a failed attempt to add the Five, replying here with the number given? We’ll be happy to take a look.

Thanks.

Mr T, they asked about the Play 5, which is not supported.

I don’t see any reference to a PLAY:5, only a Sonos Five?
