I have a gen1play5 which is not being seen by S1 app having done as many fixes as possible with technician and my own research. I have newer S2 system speakers also. Can I set up the gen1 play 5 in a wired way with some S2 speakers?

It goes through all the set up lights , and then I join sonos network and then it doesnt find the product, it initially finds it but at the end it fails??

As @106rallye stated, it is NOT possible to have the Play:5 Gen 1 join a system controlled by the S2 app.

Have a look at this page from the Sonos support site for more information:

Hope this help you to understand why the setup fails.

The Play 5 (Gen 1) is S1 only, so won’t work with S2 speakers. The fact that the S1 app does not see it, could mean there’s a defect. Does it show any lights?

@Stevie3107 Could be a defect, but when it is not connecting a diagnosis is difficult. Despite that, maybe Sonos can help you.
