Hi, Is Sonos speaker Era 100 works without a wireless network, connected only by cable to a smartphone?

Yes, my Era 100 is still within its return period. Maybe I just have to pay the return fees.
I think I will return it because I wanted to be able to use it wired, without network.

I suppose it is a shame for you, but as I said, Sonos is and has always been a networked audio system.
The Roam 2 gives great sound for its size, but the Era 100 provides significantly better sound, in my opinion. Another option you may wish to consider is keeping the Era 100 for home listening and a cheaper Bluetooth speaker for use away fro home.
Sonos generally pays the costs of returns within the return period, but you will need to confirm that for your home market

No, Era needs a wifi network. You could possibly do it from a hotspot on a mobile phone but you’ll need another mobile to act as controller.
The Era100 has Bluetooth, and so you don’t need a cable to play content from a smartphone. You can use a cable if you wish, but you would need to buy the Sonos line-in adapter.
However, I think the Era 100 requires a network to boot properly. The Sonos Move and Roam speakers can be used without a WiFi network, but I don’t think that is true of the Era 100.
I wish I didn’t depend on a wireless network.
So I should have bought a Sono Move or Roam instead.

No problem. Sonos is fundamentally a networked muliroom home audio system with only mains powered speakers. But the Move and Roam have rechargeable batteries and the ability to operate as standalone Bluetooth speakers.
Is your Era 100 still within its return period? However, I think it's an excellent speaker so if budget allows I'd be inclined to keep it!
