volume number seen on TV

I would like to request a feature request. Right now when you adjust the volume up or down on the TV, you just see a little picture of a speaker with a + or -. Would prefer to see the volume number or a bar that shows more filled as the volume goes up. More like the traditional TV displays for volume. Thank you.

That is wholly the responsibility of the TV manufacturer.  Sonos’ soundbars send the info over the HDMI-ARC connection, it is up to the TV to display it.  I have two TV’s in the home from two different manufacturers; one displays volume numbers, the other doesn’t.

Very odd.  I have same TV model in another room with Roku sound bar that displays the number.

Then check the TV's settings on the two, Sonos can't alter the video signal the TV is displaying.

Are the two sound bars using the same connection method to the TVs?

Unfortunately, CEC standards are nebulous at best, and what meets that “standard” for one piece of hardware may be quite different for another.  However, Sonos is proven to be able to send gradient  numbers for volume, and some TV’s are able to display it.  So since the “display” part of the equation is solely the responsibility of the TV, then that is where the request should begin.  I’m not saying Sonos isn’t using some specific standard that Roku is using, I’m just saying it is the TV manufacturers alone who can diagnose that (or any) case of CEC command mismatch.

I find it easier to distinguish volume levels with my ears rather than my eyes. 😀
