Volume control

Why is the only option to adjust the volume control, on the app, is to drag the slider? It’s a cumbersome process and invariably over adjusts. Using airplay you can adjust the volume just by touching the speaker, making it easier to make small adjustments. Please can this be included on the Sonos app.

It is. You can use the volume slider in the app, or the controls in the speaker (assuming they’re turned on in the app)

Apple stopped the use of the volume buttons on the side of iOS devices, I don’t use Android, but I think Google also did so. This is because the Sonos ‘player’ isn’t on the controller device, but the Sonos itself. Of course, if you’re using AirPlay, you’re using a music player that is on the device, rather than a player on the Sonos itself.

You can tap the slider too.

That’s not my experience, tapping/dragging the slider invariably over adjusts.

Tapping works for me. 1 tap = 1 increment (or decrement) of the volume.

Thanks for this, I hadn’t realised tapping the slider would work in the same way. Definitely a senior moment!

@davegriff34

You don’t need to actually drag the slider itself. Moving your finger up or down anywhere at all on the slider line will increase or decrease the volume, which I find helps enormously with accuracy. (This is also helpful when the slider volume is low, with very little room to tap anywhere to the left of it.)
