This is more of a feature request.

I would like to plugin the optical output of a CD player into a pair of ERA-300.

(I know you can get an analogue USB-C adaptor but that goes digital to analog to digital)

I would like a clean digital path to the DAC’s inside the era 300’s direct from a CD transport

One potential work around, while you wait for such a thing, would be to get a Sonos Ray, which already has a digital optical input. Then you could group it with your Era 300s. Not quite as elegant, but would likely work in the meantime.

I actually tried it with a SONOS AMP using the optical to HDMI adaptor and it worked perfectly. I turned the AMP down to zero, and grouped with the era 300’s.

Only thing is it's not a permanent solution as the AMP is normally hooked up with the TV and I can't temporarily use a line into the era 300’s as it is a CD transport that has no analog outs.

Yep, hadn’t thought of that, but certainly the adapter from Sonos takes an optical input, and changes it to an ARC signal. The challenge is often people think it works the other way, from ARC to optical, which it doesn’t. And I’d forgotten (or improperly ignored) the adapter aspect.

Hi @Robbio

Thank you - It sounds like a good idea to me! I've marked this thread as a feature request and it will be seen by the relevant teams for consideration. Keep the ideas coming!

I’m after this feature as well, I have two 300s, it will really handy if Sonos can develop an official type-c to Toshlink adapter.
