updating play 1 problem

Hi all, I have recently bought some sonos kit, a beam 2, a mini sub and 2 second hand play 1s.

The s2 app sees the play 1s but says they need an update. When I try to update I get an error 1002.

Can anybody help with this?

Firs thing first, do a factory reset on any devices purchased used:

Then try to add and update.  If that doesn’t work, and the Play:1’s haven’t been used in a while, the firmware may be too out of date to update via Wi-Fi.  Connect them one at a time to your router with an Ethernet cable and try to add them.  Once they update, you can disconnect the cable and deploy wirelessly.

Thanks for the speedy reply.  I have tried these options as I have read that they worked for others.

No luck here though unfortunately

Since none of those excellent suggestions worked, you may need to call Sonos Support directly to discuss it.

When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
