I have a gen 1 play 5, with 3x play 1, 2x play 3 and sub.
I have factory reset the play5 and want to remove from system so I can update to new app. Don’t want to loose playlists, or have to start again.
when I try to update to existing, on my network it says I can’t

unsure as to why?? Thought it might be play 5 as 1st gen…. Can anyone please help🙏

The Gen 1 Play:5 isn’t compatible with S2 app.

You might, at least potentially, be advised to unplug your gen 1 PLAY:5 when updating. Then you should be able to ‘upgrade’ the rest to S2. Once you’re done with that, you’ll have two systems, one running under S1 with the PLAY:5 that you’ve plugged back in, and one using the S2 controller, with your other speakers.

They won’t be able to ‘see’ each other, of course.

Thanks all for responses, however I have removed the play5, reset it and up plugged but still telling me that my system is incompatible…so I’m a bit lost as what to do….

Then I’d call Sonos Support directly to discuss it .

When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Many thanks. Will give them a call tomorrow. 👍
