Question

Support for new time zone

BC no longer changes the clocks twice a year. We are now on permanent daylight savings time. Today was the day we usually roll back the clocks one hour, but no longer do. Well, apparently Sonos hasn’t gotten the memo, as my alarm was one hour late. My iphone recognizes the new Pacific Time zone, and shows the correct time, as well as set off it’s alarm correctly (thank goodness).

According to the support AI, the Sonos mobile app is supposed to use the time of the mobile device, but this is clearly not true. Otherwise, it would have sounded the alarm at the correct time. So, is Sonos going to fix this anytime soon?

I don't use alarms, so . . .

Doesn't the alarm work if your controller is out of range or turned off? That means the alarm is using the Sonos device time, not the Controller and App time.

Here in Arizona we used GMT -7 for our time zone until we got an Arizona one.

In the mobile controllers, look in settings → General Settings → Date & Time. There is a selection for Time Zone and a toggle for “Adjust for daylight saving” on/off.

I might also suggest (on iOS devices) engaging the following as shown below.

My reply wasn’t very clear. You want to change the time zone to any GMT-7:00 with the “Adjust for daylight saving” toggle turned Off. Until there is a new (GMT-7:00) British Columbia time zone added.

GMT -7 with no Daylight Time is currently shown as Arizona.

Niggly detail: That is technically wrong as some of the northern AZ reservations do DST.

I thought that might be the case.

Pacific Time with DST always ON, I wonder how they’re going to label that!
