Spotify Connect Volume Drop & Compression vs. Native Sonos App (Confirmed Bug) + Advanced Trueplay for Galaxy S25 Ultra / S-Series

Hi everyone,

I’m writing to bring attention to a persistent integration issue between Spotify Connect and Sonos, as well as to start a discussion regarding Trueplay support for Android flagships.

As an owner of a premium Sonos setup (Era 300, Move 2, Sub Mini), I love the physical and acoustic quality of these speakers. However, the current software integration forces users into a frustrating compromise.

### 1. Spotify Connect Volume Drop & Signal Degradation
When playing music via Spotify Connect, the audio output is noticeably quieter, flatter, and lacks the dynamic range produced when playing the exact same track natively through the Sonos App.

I recently escalated this directly with Spotify Technical Support. Spotify explicitly confirmed that:
- Spotify Connect streaming to Sonos suffers from a known volume normalization / gain flag issue.
- Resolving this requires joint engineering coordination between Spotify and Sonos.

### 2. The Forced Compromise
Because of this bug, users are forced to choose between two compromised options:
- Option A (Spotify Connect): We get smart features (real-time Philips Hue light sync, active social media statuses, Spotify Wrapped history, fluid UX), BUT we suffer from reduced volume and flattened dynamics on our speakers.
- Option B (Native Sonos App): We get the full, uncompressed volume and dynamic punch our hardware was built for, BUT we lose Philips Hue synchronization, social media sharing, and native Spotify navigation.

When you spend thousands on market-leading audio equipment, you shouldn’t have to choose between "audio quality without smart features" or "smart features with degraded audio quality."

### 3. Advanced Trueplay for Samsung Galaxy S-Series (S21–S25 Ultra)
Additionally, keeping Advanced Trueplay iOS-exclusive remains a huge disadvantage for Android flagship owners. Devices like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (and S21–S24 Ultra) feature reference-grade, highly standardized microphone hardware across global markets—especially here in Europe. Opening Advanced Trueplay testing to Galaxy S-series flagships would benefit a massive portion of the Sonos user base.

### Questions for the Community & Sonos Staff:
1. Is anyone else experiencing this exact volume/dynamic drop when switching between Spotify Connect and the native Sonos App?
2. Can a Sonos Moderator / Community Manager confirm if Sonos engineers are actively working with Spotify's protocol team to fix this Connect volume normalization bug?

If you are experiencing the same issue, please upvote and leave a reply below so we can get this prioritized!

I’ll certainly suggest the answer to #2 in the past has been ‘no’, as the community managers don’t know if a particular thing is being worked on, and even if they were, they’re not allowed to say so. Bugs or features need to be investigated, reproduced, worked on, tested, and then finally released. Any, and all of those can ultimately be circular. Just because something is being looked at doesn’t guaranty an easy/quick fix, or frankly a possible fix.
