Had the turntable connected to my old Play 5 and it played perfectly across all my Sonos speakers around the house with crystal clear quality.  Upgraded to the new Sonos Five 2nd gen and connect the turntable.  Now all I get is broken audio and rumbling speakers.  I replaced the 3.5mm cable connecting the turntable to the Five thinking that may be the issue, but it wasn’t.  Changed the source level, audio delay for the line in as well as the low, medium and high output on the back of the turntable. All changes didn’t not solve the issue.
Any help getting me back up and running would be greatly appreciated.

Change the Audio Compression setting in the Sonos App to Compressed and keep the Line-In Audio Delay setting set to Max.

Thanks. I’ll give that a That a try.

Do you mean a Play:5 Gen2 or a Five?

If the compression setting doesn’t help I’d suggest generating a diagnostics report and contacting Sonos - it may be a faulty unit.

Nik9669a,

it is a Five that I have the turntable connected to. I have a pair and have connected it to both with the same result.  I did send a diagnostics report to Sonos this morning.

Btw, changing the Audio Compression setting to compressed keeping the audio delay at Max did not resolve the issue.

You’ll need to contact support; they’ll do nothing otherwise.

Bad sound from a turntable could mean the internal preamp is turned off - it should be set to “Line”. Did you check if this might be the case?

Thanks for your reply.  Yes, I had the setting on Line-in.

Spent a total of 2 ½ hours on the phone with Sonos to no avail. They are kicking me up to the next level of trouble shooting.  I went so far as swapping out the Stereo Mini Jack Male to 2 Female RCA Adapter from the turntable to the Five and even purchased a new turntable yesterday to ensure it wasn’t the turntable presenting the problem.  Still with the same issue. Seems to be more of an issue (sound degradation and speakers rumbling) when the 2 Fives are setup as a stereo pair.
