Sonos Sub gen 2 rattle

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing an annoying rattling noise with my Sonos Sub Gen 2. The issue happens mostly during movies, especially in low frequency scenes with deep bass. It is less noticeable with music, but still present at times.

What I’ve already tried:

  • Factory reset

  • Trueplay tuning multiple times

  • Moving the Sub to different locations in the room

  • Switching connection from WiFi to Ethernet (currently wired)

The rattling still occurs regardless of placement or connection method.

Has anyone experienced something similar with a Gen 2? Did it turn out to be a hardware issue or was there a specific fix?

Try to make a recording  of the sound and call support so they can hear it.

FWIW, I have two Gen 2 Subs, both bonded to Arcs, and am not experiencing this ‘rattle’. I think calling Sonos with evidence, as previously suggested, is the smartest thing.

If the rattle follows the Sub regardless of placement and survives resets/Trueplay, it unfortunately sounds more like a physical hardware issue than a tuning/network problem. I’d closely check for a loose grille, cabinet resonance, or debris around the driver openings first, but if it only happens during deep LFE scenes, there’s a good chance the driver assembly or internal bracing has started loosening up.
