I’ve done some deep diving on trying to come up with a solution to be able to hook up my One SLs or Ikea Sonos speakers in my RV - these are both S2 compatible and working fine in my home.

I found a YouTube video that talked about setting up a travel router and setting it to the same network username and address as your current home setup… with the caveat that you can’t run both routers at the same time or it will massively confuse your system.

Anyway - I’m wondering if anyone has any input on this.  I was thinking of using my iPhone as the connection to the router in my RV.

Looking for more input and suggestions if you have them.  Obviously I would like to use speakers I own rather than purchasing more (mobile) speakers.

You will still need another device to control the speakers. You cant use the same device that is providing the internet connection.

An iPad or old iPhone would suffice. Otherwise you will need a travel router to accomplish this.

As a followup, can anyone give me assistance on how to use my iPhone as my internet connection from my router? Do I need to hardwire this via an ethernet cable - or can it be done wirelessly?

Your iPhone has a “Personal Hotspot” that you will find in settings. Set it up and connect your speaker to it.

I GOT IT TO WORK - but with some additional steps.

I purchased an inexpensive travel router and set up the same network name and password on it that I am using at my home for my Sonos system.  I disabled my network on my home system and tried using the same network on my travel router AND IT DID NOT WORK.

I started looking around inside the Sonos app at the connectioin of my varioius speakers and found that they all are using the same base IP address.  On my home setup that was 192.168.1.x.  I dug into the travel router and found that it was set to 192.168.8.1.  I took a shot a reset my travel router to have the same IP address  as my home network and suddenly I was able to see and control my speakers.

SO… bottom line, it appears the IP address is important in some way.

Starlink is your friend but requires giving money to Musk

I forgot to mention that I am tethering from my iPhone 12Pro to my new travel router via USB cable. This modem has a setup for tethering.

Here is a link to the travel router I am using:  HERE
