Sonos SL One would not update & will now not reset to factory settings

Our SL One was working perfectly until it showed up yesterday with a spanner symbol in the app and stated the speaker needed to be updated.  We went through all the options.  Unplugging.  Resetting the router.  Doing the update over and over.  With absolutely no joy.  I have just tried to set the speaker back to factory settings by switching off and holding the button at the back till the light flashes orange & white, but no green light and it has been in that state for about 15 mins.

When the update would not complete, we were receiving an error 1, but there is no such error specified on any of the forums.

Any suggestions how we get this speaker back up and running in our system as it was on Wednesday night?

Did you try connecting the speaker to the router with an Ethernet cable, then applying the update? Did you call Sonos Support directly to discuss it?
